One thing I’ve been discovering about the cell phone market is that phones are developing a lot of unusual traits to them.  These are usually odd tics in design, strange curlicues applied to make a design stand out, things like that.  They don’t usually interfere with the functionality of the phone, but they do make things a bit…well…interesting.

And that’s exactly the case with today’s phone, the LG UX585 Rhythm.

The LG US585 Rhythm is a basic slide cell phone that comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera, calendar, Bluetooth connectivity, MP3 music player, FM radio, organizer alarm, USB port, web browser (but no wi-fi capability), thousand name capacity phone book, calendar, to-do list,photo caller ID, ringer ID and a maximum talk time of two hours and ten minutes on one battery charge.

I confess to a note of dismay that a GPS isn’t included in here–I’d thought that was pretty much standard.  In fact, compared to even other LG models this one’s a bit on the low end.  But I did say this was an unconventional model, and that comes in the control scheme.  This thing actually has a touchpad in the center of its cover-mounted control wheel.  That’s not something you see every day.

So if you can’t get enough of novelty, or aren’t looking for a phone with a lot of bells and whistles, you may want to stick to the LG UX585 Rhythm.
