Sometimes you get to look at a phone and you can only really describe it as strange. I’ve seen a lot of cell phones in my time–from huge boxy conglomerations to tiny communicators that Captain Kirk would have envied for their sheer capability. And today I may have encountered one of the strangest cell phones to date–the LG Neon.
The LG Neon is a slider-style cell phone that includes tri-band capability, conference call capability, voice recorder, speakerphone, Bluetooth capability, TTY compatibility, a phone book with capacity for a thousand name and number entries, mobile email, mobile web, support for Java applications, AT&T Music, support for digital audio and video formats and downloadable content, a two megapixel camera, video recording with self-portrait mirror, alarm clock, calendar, basic calculator, conversion tools, stopwatch, and a battery capable of yielding three hours of talk time on a single charge.
Now, admittedly, that battery life is kind of short, but there are plenty of great tools and options here to help the value side of things. But I said this was a strange one, and that shines through in the phone’s aesthetics. I mean, LOOK at this thing! It’s GREEN! And not a nice deep green, either, but like a light electric lime green. A greenish-yellow even. And I’ve never seen a QWERTY keyboard that looks like that, either. Not that it really gets in the way, but man, that color scheme is enough to put a fella off his lunch.
But still, the phone does have plenty to offer, and some other colors are available. So this isn’t really a bad phone, but rather, just an odd one.
