LG has seldom offered me cause for concern, but today will be something different. Today I’m actually going to offer up a complaint about the design of one of the newer LG model cell phones, the LG Glance.
The LG Glance is a candy bar style cell phone with conference call capability, speakerphone, caller ID, a phone number with capacity for a thousand names and numbers, E911 compatibility, mobile email and internet browser, VZ Navigator, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera, a variety of downloadable content, alarm clock, calendar, basic calculator, stopwatch, hearing aid compatibility, and a battery capable of generating two hundred and sixty minutes of talk time on one charge.
As I said, there’s a complaint involved here. It’s not in the features or the ease of use, but rather in the controls. See, for some strange reason, and it must be a doozy, LG has elected to take the very WORST part of the Blackberry–the horrendously oversensitive trackball–and install it on the LG Glance. If you’re going to copy the Blackberry, why on earth would you copy the very worst part?
But there’s still plenty to like here, so chances are, you won’t be too disappointed with this one.
The Good
Lots of great features
Compact design
The Bad
Hugely oversensitive trackpad that operates like it was lifted right off a Blackberry
