LG Develops Mobile Pedestrian Handheld for N. America
LG Electronics has joined the mobile TV war in North America (US, Canada, and Mexico) with its new technology called Mobile Pedestrian Handheld (MPH) system for mobile phones and navigation devices.
What makes this different from existing services such as DMB, MediaFLO or DVB-H? LG claims it can deliver high-quality images even if you’re moving at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour. More importantly, it does not additional frequencies. All it requires is an upgrade of broadcasting equipment.
The Korean company has already invested 7 billion won or $7.6 million and conducted several tests in North American over the last 2 years. MPH will be featured in the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
