The last official then unofficial then official then canceled for good application which did some tethering for you was NetShare. Now there’s a new app in town called iPhone Modem. Sure you will have to jailbreak your freshly installed firmware 2.1 but since the iPhone Dev Team has already managed to crack it, what do you have to loose?
iPhone Modem is said to get your tethering up in under 10 seconds? Have you tested it out yet? As always when illegally tethering, monitor your data traffic. Too much tethering might get your carrier alarmed.
