iPod touch 2g Has Bluetooth Chipset

What’s the first thing to do once you get your hands on the 2nd generation iPod touch? Well take it apart of course! See what’s inside, check for yourself what’s making it tick. If you know what’s what, of course. Otherwise, leave it as it is!

Some curious minds at iFixit have discovered a Broadcom Bluetooth chipset inside the iPod touch 2G. The chipset apparently supports 2.1+EDR although there’s no mention of it on the product page. There’s no confirmation on whether the chipset can get you A2DP music to your wireless headphones. What it probably does is to offer you that Nike+ functionality we’ve seen in the presentation. It looks like Nike+ uses the exact same 2.4GHz frequency like Bluetooth so that’s why the chip is in there.
