iPhones to be in Short Supply, How to Snag One for Yourself
It is now strongly believed that the Apple iPhone, which is set to debut in late June, will be in short supply immediately after its launch. However, the shortages won't be due to a lot of pre-orders or a shortage of parts or phones, but rather, it will be intentional. According to AT&T rep, AT&T will be the cause of the shortage as they will be deliberately keeping the iPhone on a controlled outflow from its stores. This is apparently a standard practice in the wireless world when selling high-end phones such as the BlackBerry, and now the iPhone.
Arianna Huffington of the Huffington Post got a tip from Steve Jobs on how to be one of the first people to score an iPhone:
?Talking to Steve Jobs after his speech, I got a hot tip on how to be one of the first people to score a new iPhone when they go on sale in June. ?Don?t go to an Apple store,? Jobs told me. ?It will be a madhouse there. People will be lined up around the block, sleeping on the sidewalk to get one. Go to an AT&T/Cingular store. Most people don?t know that they will be selling them too.??
Considering we've known that the phone will be carried by AT&T for some time now, you'd think enough people would know that they too will be selling it...
