iPhones Sales in the UK Right on Track
Matthew Key, the incoming CEO of UK telecom operator O2, met Apple’s marketing whiz Steve Jobs last week to report about the impressive performance of iPhone in the UK.
According to the Financial Times, Key expects to sell 200k iPhones by early January, which is consistent with the company’s target since launching this innovative smartphone last November.
However, some analysts believe this is the conservative estimate because the projected sales could go as high as 400k units. Despite some speculations that the revenue-sharing agreement with Apple is rather taxing, Key quickly refute this idea saying it is a profitable venture.
The newly appointed executive also boasts about the high usage of data services among iPhone subscribers. He claims that about 60 percent of the users send or receive more than 25MB of data each month. On the other hand, only 1.8 percent of O2 customers using different mobile phones exceed 25MB per month.
Gee, I wonder if the above projection is enough for iPhone to refute the LG Viewty's self-proclaimed domination in the European market.
