iPhones No Longer Available Online in the Big Apple?By Brian - 12/27/2009 11:12:54 PM |
If you are located in the New York area and are planning to get an iPhone, it would be best to buy one from an actual store. For one, AT&T has stopped selling them online reportedly due to fraud? AT&T seems to be limiting the distribution of the Apple handset, reportedly because New York is not ready for it (with reference to the network load it can accommodate).
This goes as far as cutting off people from purchasing online whose zip codes are from the New York area. AT&T seems to be implementing some sort of control on the number of people using iPhones to address a network congestion problem. However, the iPhone is still available from actual stores and as far as stopping people from buying and using their iPhones in the area, it seems like an improbable (if not impossible!) task.
