iPhone Touch, Phoneless iPhone

And now the moment we've all been waiting for.

Every rumor site's dream come true.

Touch comes to the iPod.

The iPod touch, is a reincarnation of the iPhone. In fact its everything but. Take one quick look and you'd be fooled. Its got the same Springboard Home screen, but with only 7 icons on top, for applications like Safari (yes its got Wifi we'll get to that later), YouTube, Calendar, Contacts, Clock, Calculator, and Settings. The bottom has four icons that resemble Leopard's new dock, for music, videos, photos and yes the iTunes WiFi store (we'll get to that in a separate story as well).

So where to begin. Its got a "geourgeous 3.5-inch display" and of course the iPhone's multi-touch interface. You can browse through albums using cover flow with a flick of the hand, pinch photos to zoom in, and automatically shift from portrait to landscape orientation.

It comes with WiFi too, thanks to a built in chip on the upper left corner on its back. This enables the iPod touch to be used as an Internet device. Browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos as well. And of course the most important of it all is buy new music off the new WiFi store.

The iPod touch isn't shipping yet but one reason from getting it altogether is the new low price of the iPhone. I'll get to that later as well. I told you there's a lot to talk about. I haven't even said Starbucks yet.

The iPod touch comes in 8GB and 16GB models, selling at $299 and $399 respectively. They aren't available yet, but should be shipping in the next few weeks. You can now pre-order them online. The device last reasonable well up to 22 hours of audio and up to 5 hours of video.

We think its worth every penny. Having used the iPhone as a video player, I know this is the way to go to have great portable video, if only Apple could offer in in larger capacities we'd be sold.
