The iPhone is an appealing device for criminals too. Since early March at least 12 similar robberies have taken place with the last one being stopped by the NYPD. The 4 young man used to post Craigslist adds saying they were selling bulk iPhones. When those interested of such purchase met them to complete the transaction they would be robbed at gunpoint. Ingenious idea. How’s that for thinking outside the box in robbers land?
Well it’s not successful at all. The police have organized a sting operation and caught the four guys. They will face criminal charges for robbery and gun possession. I can’t imagine how they thought they will not be caught by repeating the same act over and over? They were linked to at least 4 out of the 12 robberies so far. I guess they would have better off trying to sell some phones that have previously fallen off a truck if you get my drift.
How come we don’t hear about Vista selling scams?
