iPhone Coming in June, Leopard OS Delayed til October
As planned, Apple’s iPhone is still on schedule to ship in late June and has already passed many of its required certification tests. I’m sure most of you can’t wait to get your hands on one when it is finally released.
On another note, with Apple iPhone receiving the most sophisticated software ever to be used on a mobile device, getting it done on time has become a tedious task. Some of the software engineering and QA resources on the Mac OS X team had to be borrowed, resulting in a delay on the final release of the Leopard OS and will not be complete for the Worldwide Developers Conference in early June. The OS will be complete by that time, but Apple would like to wait to give customers the quality release they expect. Apple does, however, still plan to show off developers the near final version of Leopard at the conference and give them a beta copy to take home and get some final testing done before shipment in October.
