One of the first countries to get the new iPhone 3GS, besides the USA, is Canada. The new Apple smartphone will be available starting with June 19 and you’ll be able to buy it from Rogers or Fido; you choose! As for prices, the Canadian iPhone 3GS will cost as follows: $199 for the 16GB version and $299 for the 32GB version. Just like in the States the old 8GB iPhone 3G will cost $99 on contract. In case you already own one of those 3Gs from Rogers or Fido an you are not qualifying for any hardware upgrade program then you will get the iPhone 3GS with no strings attached.

Did you like all that? Well we have more! Tethering will be available if you have a data plan that offers at least 1GB of traffic per month. And that should be quite easy to obtain since those 6GB for $30 per month data plans will be back in action. Wondering about MMS? Well those will be supported as soon as the new iPhone 3.0 OS gets launched. A new iPhone value pack will tell you more about that whole MMS thing.

Doesn’t all that sound just a little better than what AT&T is currently offering? Which comes to my real question: what has AT&T been doing while Apple cooked up the new iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 3.0 OS? Shouldn’t they have been prepared to launch the iPhone 3GS at full speed?
