Even with its abysmal battery life and the lack of smallest of things called copy/paste and a decent camera among other minor deficiencies, Apple surely had a winner on its hands before the iPhone 3G hit the stores. With lines in front of stores showing no sign of abating and AT&T stores running out of stock, there’s much more cash to look forward to by both Apple and AT&T.

AT&T says:

The Apple iPhone 3G is a dramatic example of this transformation. In the days following our exclusive U.S. launch of this new device, powered by the nation’s fastest 3G wireless network, customer response has been everything we had anticipated and more. This strengthens our wireless business, and it reinforces our positive view of the opportunities ahead for AT&T and the industry.

And don’t forget the impending launch on August 22nd in 20 other countries. If the trend continues, the next generation of iPhone is sure to make a bigger splash and in the process, make more money for Apple too!
