Intel unveils new mobile clinical assistant (MCA) platform for doctors and nurses
This week Intel announced its new mobile clinical assistant (MCA) platform that will allow doctors and nurses to obtain access to real-time patient records, as well manage the administration of medications. This is Intel's first platform designed specifically for the health and medical sectors, and plays an important role in the company's goal of improving the healthcare world.

The first device to utilize Intel's MCA platform is the Motion C5, which is made by tablet computer manufacturer Motion Computing. The device is reminscent of a notepad, and is very lightweight and drop-tolerant. The MCA tablet can also be easily disinfected. The Motion C5 features wireless connectivity to allow instant access to patient information and physician's orders, a digital camera to enhance charting and progress notes, and uses Bluetooth to capture vital signs.
Having access to up-to-the-minute information enhances the clinical workflow, as well as aids in reducing the staff's administrative workload. Officials said hospitals in several different countries have already signed on to pilot and deploy MCA in their care settings.
