Although it was announced for Q3 2008, the new Intel Atom dual core processor will be available for retail only in the fourth quarter. The new Atom dual core is named Atom 330 and it will have dual 1.6GHz cores, a 533MHz FSB and 1MB cache or 512KB per core.
The dual core will cost $43 compared to the Atom 230, the single core version, which costs $29.

The Intel Atom 330 will be used in future netbooks, MIDs and ultraportables. That means we are likely to see upgraded Eee and Eee clones running on dual core processors.
