Why T-Mobile Wins Awards?

J.D Power and Associates have just awarded another first prize to T-Mobile after a survey of wireless retail sales satisfaction. T-Mobile have surpassed Allttell, Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint Nextel. Their score was based on four categories: sales staff, store display, store facility and price/promotion. Although "just" forth carrier ranked by number of total subscribers, T-Mobile is used to winning awards from J.D Power. Their current record in customer service satisfaction is 7 wins in a row, with the last one earlier this year.

T-Mobile has just a little over 30 million subscribers. They have just launched their 3G plans in New York a few days ago, and rumors say they are going to make a bid for Sprint Nextel in the future. Not to mention their wide cell phone selection or plans. No wonder people are saying they are the coolest.

NBC Shows on iPhone and Touch

If you are always watching a top hit show or two on NBC, you will take this as good news. What if I told you they are free? If you own an iPhone or an iPod Touch that is. If you bought any Zune lately you will have access to any of those shows in exchange for some of your dollars. How cool is that? Shouldn't all users, whether Apple's or Microsoft's get the same treatment? How come what others have to pay for is free to the others?

But wait, who said those free episodes' quality is watch worthy? You have to go to NBC.com from your iPhone or iPod browser and you will be offered the option of watching those episodes you wanted. Only this won't be quite that easy. It has already been reported that video quality is quite sloppy.

Some of you may already know about the rivalry between NBC and Apple's iTunes which seems not to extend to iPhone. Or in fact it does and they are going for iPhone's reputation. Is NBC trying to convince people it's iPhone's fault for not delivering crystal clear video? I am an Apple fan so I could be biased when asking that question but I think it isn't. NBC uses 3gp codecs for these free episodes and those codecs don't exactly merge that smoothly with Apple's OS...

Any Zune owner here? I'd like to know how NBC's videos run on your Zune thingy.

Laptop Backpack Built Closer to Your Body

Do you need to be online a lot? Are you a full time blogger? Are you too carrying your laptop anywhere? Are you tired of your old backpack or notebook case?

If you answered yes to one of the questions above you should take a look at this cool, slick, and very slim laptop backpack made by Built. It's made out of lightweight Neoprene, it's waterproof and stain proof so you could wear it at all times. What it won't do is save your laptop's integrity if it suffers any damage. Maybe the next model?

This Built has three compartments: one for your laptop, one for its accessories and a shoulder pocket for anything else. It retails for just $80 so it's quite a bargain. How do you like it?

New Dell Inspirons to Challange Apple's MacBook Pro

Dell is one of the largest mid-range laptop sellers. They offer cheap, affordable solutions to everyone looking for a laptop. Their systems are competitive and dependable but if you want more out of your notebook then I am sure you have already thought about buying an Apple right?

But Dell is on the lookout and they must know what people are waiting for. So looking at the leaked picture above I can't help but thinking, are they just trying to impress or is this real? The new Dell Inspirons called 1435,1535 and 1735 are going to hit the stores May 26 (1535 ) and June 9th (1735) and October (1435). They are supposed to be thinner then usual Inspirons and therefore not so heavy. And thrust me, they were heavy! Are they going for the slick Macbook Pro look? Are they going to bring up performance as well?

Besides the 1-1.5 inch "upgrade", Dell is going to throw in slot-loading (Blu-ray) drives, 3G options and processors running up to Core 2 Duo T5850 2.16GHz. Dell suddenly appears more attractive to me. Unfortunatelly they still run Windows <strike>Vista</strike> <strike>XP</strike>.

iPhone Shortage Hits UK

While everyone is waiting for the second generation 3G iPhone, so many people are still going to buy "old" iPhones from Apple or carriers around the world.

Apparently a sudden iPhone shortage hit the UK and other European countries. O2 the carrier selling the iPhone plans ran out of stock both for the 8GB and the 16GB iPhone. Does this mean everyone is getting ready for the new? Are we going to see a multiple coordinated release from Apple? Is the new 3G smart phone going to come out earlier than expected? Are we going to face a premature birth?

I don't think so. iPhones are still available at Apple stores in the UK and probably more are on the way. But not all Apple stores have sufficient phones in store. An Apple store in New York ran out of iPhones too as this phone is really in demand. Don't people know the 3G is coming? Isn't anyone telling them that?

It's likely we're going to see more shortages like this one. But they will be dealt with I'm confident of that. As long as they sell that good, why should Apple discontinue replenishing stocks?

Future: Nokia Tube Phone now iPerformer Phone?

Some time back we told you about Nokia's plan of bringing forward an iPhone Killer called as 'Tube'. As per hearsay, it has now been codenamed 'the iperformer'. Why have these guys have used 'i'? They are cheaters. I don't like this stealing of names. Well, nothing much is known about the phone. As far as specs are concerned, it will be equipped with NaviScroll, QWERTY keypad, TV out, GPS, FM transmitter, widescreen touchscreen, WiFi, FM radio, Bluetooth, and a Web cam. When it will appear and at what price is not known yet. But we can expect the best from Nokia. At least, it will be better than the LG Vu and Xperia.

Zeppelin and Skywriter Phones from Palm Coming Soon

It has been revealed that Palm has two new devices coming soon which are currently in the discreet development phase and are codenamed Zeppelin and Skywriter. The document that TamsPPC got is actually an invitation for developers to join the development program and the last date for submitting applications is 30 May. This makes us suspect that the new phones will appear somewhere in Third Quarter. Another Palm Insider removed the suspicion about the existence of Centrolike WM device. It may contain Skywriter or WM6.1 version of the Treo 500.

Well for now read the text in the document:

AT&T Site Shows Free WiFi In iPhone Plans

So it's official, or at least a little more official. Over at the AT&T/iPhone page, the service plans now detail the on-again/off-again free WiFi at AT&T hotspots feature. It hasn't been officially announced yet as part of their plans, but this must be a step in that direction. Last week, it was inadvertently "test marketed" when several iPhone users found themselves temporarily able to access WiFi for free at such AT&T hotspots as Starbucks and Barnes & Noble. Such access was shortly thereafter removed.

Whether or not this means the service is currently available again, or if it's forthcoming is unclear but it's definitely on the way. Free mobile Internet is inching closer and closer to fully reality. Pretty soon, and that's a very relative term, if you can get a signal you'll be able to get online for no additional charge.

Sony Ericsson R300 Mobile Phone Gets FCC Approved

More phones from Sony Ericsson. This time, it's the Sony Ericsson R300 mobile phone that cleared the FCC hurdle. This is also a cameraphone, and features TrackID - a free music recognition service. TrackID allows you to search for song titles, artists and album names. There's also a web browser on the phone.

Connecting the Sony Ericsson R300 to your computer via USB allows you to view it as a mass storage device, allowing for convenient bulk transfer of files. If you prefer the wireless way of doing things, the R300 also sports Bluetooth. The phone appears to be an entry-level series. There's not much else information available about the phone.
