iKat, a new phase of augmented reality appsBy Mark Rollins - 03/10/2010 3:15:34 PM |
What you are seeing here is iKat from Zenitum, which is possibly “the first augmented reality phone app to work without a marker, or real-world prompt”.
Granted, it is an app that allows you to put a kitty cat on anything like a keyboard that you see in this video. All that is required is recognizing the appropriate space the iKat needs to roam. It isn’t very useful, true, but it is one small step for augmented reality, and could begin something else, I’m sure.
I don’t seem to have a release date for when iKat will be available for the iPhone, or any other mobile device.
