I just finished reporting on Nokia’s Ovi Labs Racing, and if that game were available for the iPad, this would be the peripheral that you need.

This iDraft, a concept model from designer Micheal Greenberg, definitely looks like “the” accessory to have for racing games. Now, if only the iPad had racing games.
