HTC Touch HD Coming to the USA… Like Never!

Why won’t the HTC Touch HD arrive in the USA? That’s a good question. It looks like no carrier seems interested in getting it. I can’t understand why, since the phone might be one of their top thee phones of this year. Sure you can get the device from some other country. But would you trade the 3G support?

And HTC isn’t saying that much either. The company’s idea of a good press release is Twitter. I think HTC used far too many words than it was needed to deliver this message:

Sad news, US. we looked into it- by the time we could bring Touch HD to the States, it would be old news. We do have other cool stuff coming.

Well, I don’t know what HTC’s idea of a cool device (besides the HD), Diamond and the other “Touch” series are not good as I want. The rest of the touch screen devices available here in the US have usually a smaller screen. Dare I say it, the only decent Screen size it’s the iPhone, but I’ve been strong enough not to buy it (no flash support, no A2DP, most important for me). So, if HTC have something better, with same or better features (including screen size) than planned for US release soon; I will wait, otherwise I will just buy iPhone, even thou it lacks a few features, so far it’s one of the best options available so far.

This is another out of context statement or one that has been superceded. What is clear is that the HD or a sucessor will be coming to the US in the next product cycle (a few months - probably 3 to 5). You can understand the reluctance of HTC and the cell networks to preannounce and thereby undercut sales of current products.
