htcmagicAccording to a report made by the antivirus company Panda there are a few thousand HTC Magic smartphones that are infected with a botnet malware named Mariposa. This case is limited to 3,000 handsets sold by Vodafone, in Spain, and according to them this is an “isolated accident”.

In addition to the Mariposa botnet there is other type of malware such as the Conficker worm, or a game that steals password, that comes included in the 8GB microSD cards. At this moment Vodafone is already working on the problem by replacing the microSD memory cards, as well as sending letters and virus scan instructions to the owners of the devices that were infected.
