The HTC HD2, today’s review target, can’t accurately be described as a bad phone. What it can be described as is a phone that’s a lot more substantial than the ordinary. And in case you were wondering, yes, I’m totally going to explain that wry little metaphor I used above. Read on.
The HTC HD2 smartphone is a candy bar style phone that offers a touchscreen control, conference call capaility, voice recorder, speakerphone capability, mobile email, mobile web (along with support for a variety of web-based applications, including RSS feed, PDF support, and a good chunk of the Microsoft Office suite), a five megapixel camera, GPS, alarm clock, calendar, basic calculator, MP3 player / recorder, and a battery that can generate as much as seven and a half hours of talk time on a single charge.
There’s no doubt there are plenty of great features here, and the battery’s got plenty of life to it, AND the camera’s as high of resolution as you can expect to see in a cell phone camera, but there are still a couple small problems here, mostly in the design. This thing is huge, folks–calling it downright unwieldy isn’t too far a stretch. You saw from the title I called it a king-size candy bar phone, and frankly, that’s about the best description.
But still, at the end of the day, the HTC HD2 is a really nice phone, even if its sheer bulkiness takes a bit of getting used to.
The Good
Lots of features
Great camera resolution for a cell phone
