If you’ve been following any type of tech blog including us here at MobileWhack, you’ll know that Palm as in a bit of financial troubles after their Palm Pre and Pixi handsets failed to really take off. Lucky for them, instead of watching them die, every body’s favorite printer maker HP came in and snatched them up, buying them out completely. This effectively gave HP control of not only the Palm Pre and Pixi but the critically acclaimed webOS mobile platform as well – something HP had said they are very interested in.
Well, since there are only 2 (or 4, including the Plus versions of the Pre and Pixi) devices on the market currently running webOS, we’ve been wondering when, if ever, HP would come forth to announce something new. Well, today the company has filed for the PalmPad trademark leading many to believe that they have a webOS powered tablet type device in the works – most likely to compete with the iPad.
Of course, until the company comes forth to announce something official everything is just rumors. Let the speculating begin!
