If you’re afraid of the financial crisis and want to start saving some money, how about selling your cellphone and buying a cheap (but good) one like the HOP 1811? The device is already available in Europe and Asia, but it will make its entrance on the American market in the near future, with a low price tag of $14 including a Graffiti Wireless Airtime Plan.

The HOP1811 is the big brother of the 1800 and has a couple of features that were improved, in the multimedia department for example, you have the option to add a MP3 player which wasn’t possible in the past.

The dual-band Hop-On phone is lightweight at 79 grams, and has a normal battery life that can last 4 hours in talking-mode, or 150 hours in stand-by.

Peter Micheals CEO at Hop-On, comments:

I use a 3G iPhone, it is a complicated, expensive device. Our phone is an 850/1900 MHz with AMR. You are not going to drop calls in similar areas as our competitor’s device. I challenge anyone to make a call faster than on the HOP1811.
