Toshiba Class-KB TB2905HQ Audio Power Amplifier

Toshiba announced the world's first Class-KB (keyed bridge-tied load) audio power amp - TB2905HQ - which guarantees lower heat dissipation and superb audio quality at the same time. Class-KB, a Toshiba proprietary technology, uses a linear amplifier design instead of the more common switched analog or digital type, completely eliminating switching noice.

The power amp is based on bipolar, CMOS and double-diffused MOS (BiCD) technology, and is ideal for car audio solutions including audio CD and DVD players. It comes with a host of features, including standby switching, muting, offset and clipping detection and several protective circuits.

Other features include:

  • Maximum power of 47 watts x 4 BTL amplifier channels at 4 ohms and 14.4 volts
  • Low distortion ratio with total harmonic distortion of 0.03 percent typical at 4 ohms, 13.2 volts, and 2 watts of output power
  • Low standby current of 2uA typically
  • Protective circuitry, including thermal shutdown, shorting of output terminal and overvoltage
  • Operating voltage of 9 to 18 volts

More info about Class-KB technology and the TB2905HQ audio power amp is available from Toshiba's website.
