Sony VPL-VW100 SXRD 1080p Projector
Sony unveiled a "true" home theater system with the launch of the VPL-VW100 SXRD 1080p Front Projector. SXRD (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display), Sony's technology for delivering the full power of high definition, produces more than 2 million pixels. The 1080p incorporates three such SXRD chips - one each for red, blue and green colors - totalling more than 6 million native pixels.
With the amount of clarity claimed to be delivered by the 1080p, you are freed from standing in long queues and noisy theatres; enjoy all your favorite movies right from the comfort of your home. Or, if you want to make an impression, get the 1080p and throw a party. Or whatever. This thing reeks of coolness.
It also comes with a 1.8x zoom lens as well as lens shift for adjusting vertical/horizontal manual location of the image. It supports DVI-B, RGB and component video inputs, so setting up would be a breeze.
It costs about $10,000 and will be available in November. More details at Sony's website.
