Sony LocationFree Player Pak LF-PK1
Watch your content wherever you are - that's what Sony aims to provide with the new Sony LocationFree Play Pak LF-PK1. The Location Free Player allows you to stream live TV, VCR, or DVDs from your home to your PC over a broadband internet connection.
The package consists of two pieces - the Location Free Base Station and the Location Free Player software for a Windows XP or 2000 PC. You also get total A/V control using an on-screen universal remote control.
The system takes in standard composite video or s-video and can deliver compressed MPEG4 output. It'll be interesting to see how well this system performs and whether encrypted content on DVDs actually are streamed over the internet. I'd like to this of this package as Sony's version of Orb software.
The LFA-PK1 LocationFree® Player Pak gives you the ability to view live TV, recorded TV (via DVR), VHS tapes or DVDs from your home to your computer over a broadband internet connection. The Player Pak includes the LocationFree base station and easy to install LocationFree Player for PC.41
• NetAV NetAv enables you to connect your Base Station via a broadband internet connection from outside your house (at public wireless access point, hotel etc.) You can enjoy your TV and favorite A/V content virtually anywhere. Initital setup is easy and quick.

if you have psp version 2.50 and you want to watch tv through the location free player do you have to purchase it or could you pick up a signal through something else so you dont have to buy that expensive equipment
Posted by: stefano | October 14, 2005 08:27 PM
yes there is there is a trial verision out there and it is for ppl who dun wanna pay. just click the location free icon on ur psp and wait for 25 min and u should get a signal call "location free tv trial" but is only for a week.

Just a thought, how long before someone reverse engineers it to make a Location Free server software for your computer. No need for a basestation if you have no need for TV, or if you already have a TV tuner card installed on your computer.

stefano, i tried waiting to get the trial but it keeps on getting timed out. how did u do it?
Posted by: carval23 | October 15, 2005 11:20 AM
you have to go in best buy and pick up a signal by trying to fool around with one there and it will work all the way to ur house becasue the signals are very strong

takagawa, i agree with you because nobody wants to buy that expensive equipment. but i also have a tv tuner card and i was wondering if you could watch it with that.
Posted by: stefano | October 15, 2005 03:59 PM
what channels do u get w' the trial
Posted by: psp kid | October 15, 2005 08:06 PM
could this worlk with all the channels if hooked up into cable or will it only work with 120 channels? this guy had tried it hhe said that he only had 120 channls. i am worried because i have over 1000 cannels and the best channels are the high on+es.

I agree with you the way you view the issue. I remember Jack London once said everything positive has a negative side; everything negative has positive side. It is also interesting to see different viewpoints & learn useful things in the discussion.

By the way guys Sony has only announced you can watch TV succesfully in Japan. You do realies this?
And dont bother buying this equipment in a few months some company will release its own equipment that will do this, just once a week go onto google.com or yahoo.com and type 'TV on PSP' and see what it comes up with.
Sony has done this so everybody wants to be the first to do it, unfortunately and quite deliberately done so.

Three phrases should be among the most common in our daily usage. They are: Thank you, I am grateful and I appreciate.
