KiSS DP-600 High Definition Media Player

kiss-dp-600-hd-media-player.jpgKiSS Technology has announced a new high definition media player called the DP-600. This is KiSS's first major product supporting 1080p video output and it comes with a wide array of features that should satisfy any videophile.

The DP-600 is a networked player with support for 10/100 Ethernet and 802.11g wireless networking. With the networking support, you can subscribe to video on demand and IP television services when they become available. You can also connect to web content such as an Electronic Program Guide, weather reports, stock reports, web radio, and online gaming.

Locally, the DP-600 plays back DVD video and can connect to PCs on your network to stream HD video. In fact, the DP-600 has support for a vast array of file formats including:
Video: DVD, Windows Media 9, Windows Media 9 HD, MPEG, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX 3.11, DivX 4, DivX 5, DivX HD, Nero Digital, XviD
Audio: Audio CD, WMA, WMA Pro, MP3, MPEG, MPEG-2
Picture: JPEG, PNG

As we said earlier, the DP-600 supports 1080p which means the highest resolution output is 1920 x 1080 - I suppose you now have a reason to get a 1080p capable television set. Although the unit supports an EPG, there's no hard drive inside as of yet so don't expect to record any television shows in the near future (although that is quite possible down the road we suspect).
