Denon DVD-A1XVA

Denon DVD-A1XVADenon is introducing a new Super Audio CD/DVD Audio/Video player called the DVD-A1XVA. The DVD-A1XVA will assume the role of Denon's flagship DVD player with native support for 1080p output. Having 1080p output is key here as more and more HDTV displays are coming out with 1080p support.

Denon uses an advanced video scaler to achieve 1080p output from current DVDs. Video output is sent to both HDMI and DVI ports located on the back of the player although 1080p is not possible via DVI. The unit is also capable of playing back Super Audio CDs and DVD Audio discs.

If you're looking for a future proof DVD player that is also capable of playing today's state of the art audio discs, consider the new DVD-A1XVA. The new Denon DVD-A1XVA is due out in the middle of November. Check out Denon's website for additional information. Via Akihabara News.

I wonder what is the use of a 1080p output?
There are no media that has such native format. As a high end theatre system one should output the content on the media as faithfully as possible and not do it's own internal upconversion.

The point is that plasmas, LCDs and Projectors displays run in 720 or 1080 lines which is higher then the 480/576 on the disc, so it helps improve picture quality on larger screens.

I've carefuly checked the specifications of the Denon DVD-A1XVA and it does not support 1080p, only 1080i. I've even read the instructions manual and it doesn't mention 1080p resolution anywhere.
