BenQ has announced the introduction of the new PE8720 Home Cinema Projector. This projector brings home cinema to new heights with a DLP system capable of high resolution 16:9 WXGA images at a contrast ratio of 10,000:1. All this is made possible using the new BenQ Advanced Continuous Electronic IRIS and the TI DarkChip3 DMD.

BenQ's Advanced Continuous Electronic IRIS technology provides the contrast ratio of 10,000:1 while also optimizing light intensity for bright and dark scenes. The Texas Instrument DarkChip3 DMD decreases the scattering of light and boosts image contrast for extremely dark images.

With all this new technology, you'd expect the projector to be somewhat noisy but the PE8720 outputs a mere 23dB of sound through its use of side exhaust fans which lowers the internal ambient temperature.

The projector comes with connectors for component, S-Video, Composite, and HDMI. It supports 480i, 480p, 576i. 576p, 720p and 1080i HDTV resolutions. Via BIOS Magazine.
