AVerMedia Technologies has announced the first ever TV tuner card designed for the ExpressCard platform called the AVerMedia ExpressCard TV Tuner. ExpressCard is the new add-in card specification designed to replace the aging PCMCIA platform found on today's laptops and notebook computers. ExpressCard takes advantage of today's higher bandwidth PCI Express bus and USB 2.0 interfaces.

The new AVerMedia ExpressCard TV Tuner provides DVR functions including timeshifting, record and playback, viewing and recording of live TV, and a recording scheduler. There's also parental lockout control, ability to record in MPEG or VCD formats, and various input and output connectors.
