Since netboks are the new trend and will continue to be fresh during 2009, Hercules decided to upgrade the Le eCafe to a model codenamed EC-900.
Unlike the previous model EC-800, the new one has a decent screen that measures 8.9-inches, and uses a 6-cell battery instead of 4-cell. Since the EC-900 is made for using the internet, it doesn’t have any top-notch features. The most notable details are: microphone placed near the trackpad to make life easier for everyone that likes to chat via voice online, a SDHC memory card slot, and an upgraded processor when comparing to the previous model, which is now an Intel Atom N720 at 1.6Ghz. Priced at €330, approximately $425.

This ecafe 900 xp model is a nice unit but does get very HOT and my unit failed in just 2 days
But please note if your machine Fails like mine, even after 2 days all they would offer is a Repair!
10 days collect and return – they also discourage contacting ur retailer and say they will not except the item back.
I guess as most good retailers will Refund or Replace within 30 days. and ecafe is not be keen to do that.
I had a Refund and purchased a Zoostorm
Also the battery take a mamouth ammount of time to charge wheather using it or not around 5 hrs for a full charge.
If there customer servive was better – i would have had a replacment – this was the main reason for refund.

Hey,
I just bought it, I love it!
60Gb storage Hdd, shock resistance [wonder how much], 512 Mb DDr2 expandable, Intel Atom 1.6Ghz, 512K L2, 3x Universal Serial Bus [USB], good webcam!
The operating system is Mandriva (Guillmot), I’m linux addicted so it suits me, it looks great, indeed the batery takes a lot of time to charge but this should not be a problem, i tested already on a 21″ screen, it can be succesfully connected to an external monitor.
Wi-fi works very well, I mean it’s very sensitive, I can connect to networks wich I couldn’t conect with other devices.
So far I tested almost all apps of this tiny thing and all I can say: It’s a good investment.
Keep up the nice work! Look forward to reading more from you in the future. I think it will be also nice if you add “send to email” tool so people can forward the articles to their friends easily.
Hey again, it seem this little thing has 1Gb Ram, i discovered accidentaly in bios, it’s good thing to know.
I also installed ubuntu 9.10 Remix (special edition for netbooks) works well, looks great, no problem with hardware and best of all wireless works nice.
Best regards
If anyone of you have questions about installing ubuntu 9.10 Remix from a usb flash drive and how to make it bootable, just ask:)
how can you get in bios?
