Ever since GPS devices made their debut they have pretty much become a necessity when doing any sort of traveling. Sure, you can whip out a map an plot your route and then meticulously follow it, but what fun is that? However, once in a while you’ll lose GPS signal or somethign else will happen and you’ll be left without navigation.

Luckily, it was recently announced that Raytheon has just secured a $886 million U.S. government grant that will help them completely overhaul the GPS system. This new system of GPS will be called OCX or advanced control segment (we’re clueless too) and will help both U.S. military GPS systems along with civil GPS systems.

Don’t expect this to roll out anytime soon but it’s coming, at some point.
