Google has updated its Gmail and Calendar applications for iPhones and Android devices. The new Gmail will bring you HTML5 and Gears which means you will be able to read your emails faster than you used to. Another significant improvement is the fact that the new Gmail app will let you write messages and open recently-read emails even when there hardly a connection available. A new look will also surprise you and there’s a new floaty bar which will let you archive and delete messages.

The Calendar has also been updated which means that now you will be able to edit your web-based calendar straight from your handset. The new Gmail and Calendar will be available for the iPhone and the iPod touch OS 2.2.1 or above and all Android phones.
