Google apologizes for intrusive Buzz testing

Google has been getting a lot of bad press lately for implementing Buzz into Gmail with no prior warning. If you’ve been reading said bad press you’ll have heard that the Buzz implementation actually posed a major privacy issue.

Well, Google has issued an apology stating that they are very sorry and that people were rightfully upset. They then went on to say the following:

We’re very early in this space. This was one of our first big attempts. We’ve been testing Buzz internally at Google for a while. Of course, getting feedback from 20,000 Googlers isn’t quite the same as letting Gmail users play with Buzz in the wild. If it becomes clear that people don’t think we’ve done enough, we’ll make more changes.
