Google Android Also Has A Kill Switch!By Paul Briggs - 10/16/2008 10:15:03 PM |
There was mayhem everywhere when people knew of the Apple iPhone’s alleged kill switch. This allows Apple to remotely delete malicious or inappropriate applications on the iPhone. And that just won’t stand with most people.
Well, as it turns out, Google’s open-source Android comes with a similar feature, as reported by Computerworld. In its article, it is mentioned that Google expressly says that it might remotely remove an application from user phones. Google may discover a product that violates the developer distribution agreement, in such an instance, Google retains the right to remotely remove those applications from your device at its sole discretion
I don’t know why but Google didn’t receive the same ire as Apple did when the kill switch feature was made known. Maybe because the Android has been more open when compared to the iPhone or that because Google does not prevent application from its store and this is the only way Google can protect its users. How bout you? You think Google deserves the slack not given to Apple?
