Global Ring Tones Market Waning
Just like any music, everything has an end including the powerful global ring tones market. NYT reports the trend for this industry is going downward based on several measures.
It’s not that the mobile consumers are no longer excited about getting new (and most of the time annoying) ring tones every week. The market has drastically changed over the years. It seems everybody wants to grab a share in this category. Record labels have come up with their own master ring tones, handset manufacturers have added features to create own ring tones, and category killer iTunes has bundled ring tones along with their cheap singles.
According to market research company M:Metrics, ring tones purchase in Britain, France, Germany, Spain and Italy has fallen consistently. Even popular ring tone players Jamba and Musiwave are now forced to explore new opportunities to stay afloat.
Of course, ring tones will not die but it has perhaps reached its saturation point. Perhaps video ring tones can help revive this market.
