Like everyone else you probably want an unlocked, possible jailbroken 3G iPhone don’t you? And for the subsidized price right? Well you can either wait for iPhone Dev Team’s Pwnage Tool 2.0 to be released to manually hack your iPhone or you can head to France and order a prepaid 3G iPhone. Sure the price isn’t that great but at least you won’t be tied to a 2 year agreement.
The 8GB version will cost you about $808 while the 16GB costs $966. Just go to Darty, the official supplier. While all that sounds good, there’s a small catch. You will need a SIM card from Orange France. So the iPhone it’s not quite that unlocked now is it?
Orange France is forced by law to unlock any handset they sell. They offer too a pay as you go plan. With it you will get the 3G iPhone priced at $966. Still a lot of money. Orange France websites also suggest you can get the iPhone alone for $1188.
As much as you would want the 3G iPhone unlocked, paying all that money seems not the way to get one. So if you’re in France, get it with a plan, wait for the unlock software and then get out of the plan. How’s that for an alternative?
