Garmin & Mayo Clinic Team Up to Turn Mobile Phones Into a First Aid Kit
Garmin Ltd and Mayo Clinic have created a software application that delivers an a vast amount of health information and tools available for cell phones. The Mayo Clinic InTouch program allows users to have readily available health information nearly anywhere you go. Users will have immediate access to information including Step-by-step first aid tips, Symptom Checker to offer self-care advice and guidelines, emergency care for over 45 common symptoms in adults and children, many short health news videos, health alerts and drug watches. Not only providing health information, GPS functionable phones can automatically find the nearest emergency facility and users can also input their zip code to access a local list of nearby emergeny and urgent care facilities. This new software could possibly provide life saving assistance to its users. The InTouch wireless health program will be available in Febuary on major wireless carriers such as Alltel Wireless and Sprint.
