Do you think in 120 years from now, when they will digg up a forgotten Yellow Pages 2008 anyone would care about it? One of the first phone books in the USA is going to auction from Christie’s and who ever wants to grab it will have to go deep inside their pockets for at least $30-40 thousand.
This phone book was released in 1878, just two years after Bell invented the telephone. This book covered the New Haven area in CT, and had about 391 subscribers listed. I guess they could have used a microSD upgrade to store more people, right?
And, according to the book, they could have used some more phone talk etiquette:
Should you wish to speak to another subscriber you should commence the conversation by saying, ‘Hulloa!’
Sometimes it’s good to take a good look our past to see where we’re going. Technologically speaking, o f course! Imagine the fun others will make of us in a hundred years time when they hear in 2008 we were using those simple 3G iPhones!
