First iPhone VoIP Client

|

Of course, having an iPhone means you have a provider. You can make calls when you want to, anytime you want to--on your dime, of course. But what if you can make calls through Skype for cheap on your iPhone through VoIP? Fring is being touted as the first VoIP client for the iPhone. You can use SkypeOut to call where there's WiFi, and even use instant messengers. Of course, it can only be installed on jailbroken phones, so if you're iPhone hasn't been jailbroken yet, it's something to think about.

Since Fring's only a beta release, the service isn't as smooth yet. Zatz not Funny reports that the conversation they tested became blurred at the end. Still, by the time the service gets fine-tuned, Fring could definitely be a useful iPhone application.
