16 Jul 09 Firmware update unlocks Samsung Omnia’s GPS
Verizon has recently announced that they have recently released the much sought after firmware update for the Samsung Omnia that will unlock the even more sought after GPS unlock.
The Omnia has been a decent contender in the smartphone market ever since its creation with its Windows Mobile 6.1 OS, 624MHz processor, 128MB RAM/256MB ROM, HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth and a 5MP camera but without GPS it was overshadowed by a lot of phones with it.
Now that the phone has had its GPS functionality enabled it can finally recieve the credit it deserves.

I don’t think Verizon totally unlocked their GPS- only for Google and Windows Live to access it- how many people in the U.S. have gotten GPS to function and work correctly on other GPS apps- and what are they- that is the real question.
