Firefly Phone

The Firefly is a mobile phone designed for middle school kids and their parents. The Firefly is about the same size and shape as a candy bar and comes with its own lanyard and backpack clip. It also fits easily into a child sized pocket. The Firefly has no keypad, no camera, and no moving parts to break. The .8 inch diagonal screen is pretty small, but it does show the date, time, battery life, signal strength, and caller ID. Tweens can customize the phone with a variety of case colors and custom skins, and parents have control over who kids can call.

Calls are made by pulling up a menu and hitting one of five keys, so only already programmed numbers can be dialed. On the side of the phone is a button that automatically dials 911. Parents can control the number of calls their kids make through the use of a PIN number that has to be entered to exceed a certain number of calls per day. The Firefly costs right around $100 if you buy it outright, or $49 if purchased with cell phone service.
