Estonia Will Vote via Cell Phone by 2011By Chris - 12/13/2008 12:39:10 PM |

Is the cell phone ready to be taken to the next level? Could we use it to vote? Well Estonians certainly seem to be ready to do that. The Parliament has approved a law according to which Estonia is going to become the first country ready to vote by cell phone.
I see advantages and disadvantages to this whole concept. On one hand you could save lots of money spent for the whole election process. Cell phone voting will probably help increase the number of voters but they pose some important questions. Is it safe? Can it be hacked? Is anyone going to try to steal elections that way? Estonians will be the first to answer them by 2011.
