Dell to Downgrade XPS Line?By Chris - 08/13/2008 6:24:57 PM |

It appears that Dell’s XPS line will be demoted. Don’t worry, it will still be there to chose it when you buy a new Dell computer but not as a separate line. Whenever you will purchase and Inspiron or Studio product and you will opt in for the high end choice you will find the XPS to be exactly that ultimate product you were looking for.
That means you will probably get Inspiron XPS and Studio XPS high-end computers in the near future. But what about hardcore gamers? Are they going to lose the laptop of their choice? Probably not.
Alienware, the other bad-boy Dell owns will continue to deliver those gaming machines that actually compete with current XPS machines. By removing the XPS as a brand and demoting it into a sub-brand high-end choice, Dell will stop the current competition and gamers will be more likely to get Alienware systems.
Dell’s official Mark Jarvis, head of Dell’s worldwide marketing, said that in the next 12 months the company will release 50% more notebook products that in the previous 12 months.
We’ve seen a burst of new notebooks yesterday with the new Latitudes. We’re waiting for more stuff to replace the XPS line.
