A Studio Inspiron will certainly be one of my next laptops to play with. For whatever reason, I have always followed Dell and their progress in the notebook world. Sure for the same price I could always get a similar HP and half a Mac, but Dell is one of my favorites.

Let’s take a look at their new Studio line. We’ve heard about in the past and talked about it. The new colored laptops from Dell look similar to the XPS M1530. They have plastic instead of XPS metal and they promise a lot. Here are some specs:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo Processor,
  • up to 4GB of memory,
  • 320GB hard drives,
  • a Blu-Ray Disc Option,
  • built-in 2-megapixel webcam,
  • Wi-Fi, optional WLAN and optional EVDO,
  • 15-inch Studio 15 with resolution up to 1440×900,
  • 17-inch Studio 17 with resolution up to 1900×1200,
  • lots of colors to choose from,
  • optional LED backlighting,
  • OS X like Dock installed (don’t be fooled by cutenes, it’s still Vista),
  • size: comparable to a MacBook Pro.

The Studio 15 and 17 will start selling for $799 and $999. Sure you can tweak those prices up and down when customizing your desired configuration.
