Datawind’s new PocketSurfer3 and UbiSurfer devices are both apparently officially on track for a US release. The PocketSurfer3 is a somewhat modest update to the PocketSurfer2, with the addition of an improved screen and updated UI and a lower $249 price tag which includes a year of free cellular usage (up to 30 hours a month).
On the other hand, the UbiSurfer is a more conventional netbook-style device with a 7-inch screen, 128 MB of RAM, 1GB of storage, and an unspecified processor. It too includes the same year of free service as the PocketSurfer3, and comes with an even lower $199 price tag. Datawind says both devices should be available in October.
