Rumored: iPhone nano in the Works for Christmas

|

Boy this must be the rumors of all rumors I've heard all year. People say that an iPhone nano is being conceived by Apple and it's planned to be released by Christmas. The people that are saying it are Daily Mail writers. According to them a $300 pay-as-you-go iPhone nano will be available for O2 customers by Christmas.

Why would I, as a simple consumer, choose to buy a smaller iPhone? Sure a nano version would definitely be so cool, but I would be losing a large part of that touchscreen. That means watching videos and web browsing are going to really suck on a nano iPhone. Oh and is it going to be a 3G iPhone nano?

I wonder where this rumor will lead... There are almost 5 months to Christmas.

Hello Kitty Phone

|

We happen to come across a Hello Kitty gadget once in a while and it's always a pleasure to check it out. This time we have a Hello Kitty phone to inspect. It's a perfect gift for friends with great sense of humor and even children.

The Hello Kitty phone has Bluetooth, touchscreen and a 1 megapixel camera. Not that bad for a toy phone. The mp3 player will change music when the device is shaken. Now just picture yourself in a business meeting, all suit up, wearing a Hello Kitty phone. That would seal any deals!

Sony Ericsson Feng Leaked Photos

|

This is the Sony Ericsson Feng in the leaked picture above. I don't know if there's a Shui from Sony Ericsson, but if I was Sony Ericsson I'd create one. There can't be a Feng without a Shui, can it?
This phone will be announced on July 22nd and we also like to call it the W302.

The Feng will be a walkman version of the S302 phone. You must have lost interest by now. The S302 was an entry to mid range phone. Not the spectacular iPhone competitor you wished for. So the W302 will be similar to the S302. No high hopes for this one either. Besides the music capabilities, the Feng will have a 176x220 display and a 2 megapixel camera to go with that. Powered by the A2 software platform, this simple phone will be quite useful if you're looking for a fast, fun cell phone.

3G iPhone Battery and Screen User Replaceable?

|

Just in case you saved your iPhone from being blended into oblivion, you might need to replace some broken pieces. Well even if that scenario will never actually take place you might want to know that the battery and screen are user replaceable. Sort of...

The 3G iPhone has small screws on the bottom which is weird as the previous model didn't have any. Unscrewing those will get you closer to the battery, which isn't soldered. The screen might be also available for replacement, if needed, as it is a separate piece from the capacitive touchscreen. Sure if you do all the work yourself, you will screw with your warranty too, but that's up to you too.

What happens usually is for a customer to head on over to Apple and ask for a battery replacement. That whole deal comes to $86. And you get to keep you warranty and all that.

I have to admit I would tear the iPhone up just because there are screws around and I am a guy. But hopefully you shouldn't have to require another battery or screen until the next generation of iPhone hits.

Hisense 3G T68 cell phone revealed

|

Hisense has finally answered the 3G call with its new T68 cell phone, which has made its first appearance at the HITECH 2008 Fair in China. Along with 3G compatibility, the phone also supports the Chinese TD-SCDMA network. Although Hisense has made its name in China with its top of the class electronic appliances, it is yet to make a mark in the cell phone industry and if they assume that the T68 is the ticket, it definitely isn't. Other than 3G support, the T68 is pretty much any other candy bar out there with dual-band GSM capability, 2.4-inch TFT touchscreen display with handwriting recognition, music/video players, and microSD support. The camera of choice integrated is a 1.3 megapixeller with no information on the kind of flash included. The battery is a whopper though with 1300 mAh which can power the device up to 7.5 hours of talktime or a staggering 270 hours on standby.

As of now, the Hisense T68 is only available in China at a price of 1800 Yuan ($260), with no information of a future release date in other markets.

Write on iPhonein your handwriting. Now thanks to the Chinese developer who recently released unique handwriting recognition software now you can. Known as HWPen, the software application can be downloaded from Installer.app. Thinking How to install? Okay! Click on Source, then Edit and Add new source http://iphonecake.com/src/new. Refresh the sources to locate HWPen in the iPhoneCake packages. Install the software and restart your iPhone. After you install you will see a writing area making the standard keyboardvanish. Although it is in Beta 1.0 version and has some errors but you can still use it. I hope all the bugs are fixed soon and we get a solid version.

|
liver-device.jpg

Young people (18plus) these days are totally crazy, they get on drink more than any other age group around, so therefore they certainly need this product to carry around with them. Its a liver checking device that monitors that state of your liver through your mobile phone after a night on the boozes. Developed by UNI students at Korean Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology it connects to your cell phone via the battery point and checks two enzymes in your blood, the results are then sent to a doctor for analyzing, and he then can tell you if it is ok to keep drinking or to stop and check intoyour local rehabilitation center like Britney.

ASIMO - Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility Hits Bris Vegas

|

asimo.jpgI just got back from a Toyoto event in Brissy where they were showing off ASIMO! the world's most advanced humanoid robot. This thing is unbelievable. ASIMO, whose name stands for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility can do heaps of crazy things like play the violin and soccer, techno dance, recognize people, chat with them and remember their names, actually the thing doesn't stop talking and to my utter amazement it was running to. If this ever comes on the market for sale, I'm definitely going to try and get one, he could get my mail, make my brekky in the morning, go to the butcher for me, bush walks and everything it would be awesome!!

The 130cm robot is the result of 21 years of research and development by Honda.

Devillain: World's First Folding Electric Guitar

|

devillian_folding_guitar.jpgGuitarist's can now easily transport what could become their favorite guitar, the world's first folding guitar by Devillian. Their Centerfold guitar solves transportation problems that many guitarists have faced. With 10 years of development from devoted guitarist Fredrick Johansson, he has solved the problems he had experienced with transportation of his guitar.

You may be thinking that it would me more of a pain unfolding the guitar, instead of carrying around that large guitar case around on the buses, subways, bikes, etc. The process of folding/unfolding the guitar is actually quite simple and doesn't require taking off the strings!
After releasing the string tension via a knob on the guitar, simply unscrew the neck and gently fold/unfold the guitar. Im sure you would also be surprised to hear that the guitar will be just as tuned as when it was folded away.

Devillian's 'Centerfold' guitar is priced at only $3,370.

An Entire Book Written on a Mobile Phone is Now Published

|

Writing a book is not an easy thing to do, which many authors can attest to, which is what makes this man's particular feat even more impressive. Italian author Robert Bernocco has just published the world's first book written entirely using a mobile phone. That had to be painful. He published the book on Lulu.com, a site where anyone can publish their own book for print.

Bernocco's book was no small one either - in the end, it was an impressive 384 page science fiction novel. He wrote it taking advantage of down time, such as while commuting to and from work by train. He wrote the entire book using a Nokia 6630, utilizing the phones T9 typing system. The title of the finished book was Compagni di Viaggo, which translates to Fellow Travelers in English.

Bernocco wrote the entire novel in perfect Italian, not any kind of typical mobile slang that we're all used to. He divided the work up into short paragraphs, and saved them on his phone. He would then download them on to his home computer for editing and proofreading. Writing the book took him just 17 weeks to complete.

Of the feat, Bernocco said: "Only a few years ago I would have struggled to find both the time and the publisher to enable me to create this book. Thanks to my Nokia and Lulu, I am now proud to be a published author."

Look, it's a wooden USB memory drive!

|

wood-usb.jpg

USB flash drives are a dime a dozen these days, and to make yours stand out from the pack, you've got to do something clever. Whether that's jazzing it up with Swarovski crystals, or making it glow in the dark, it seems everyone's trying something different.

The folks at Brando have decided to get back into touch with their natural side, and have released a wooden USB flash memory drive. It features a wooden outer casing, and 2GB of integrated flash memory, as well as a fashionable dorky neck strap so you can carry it around with you all day without losing it in your pockets.

Bicycles and hybrid cars make relatively little sound when in operation. For bikes it is because there is no engine, and for hybrid cars it is because the car's electrical engine is so smooth and quiet. Which apparently can be dangerous. Pedestrians and bicyclists don't hear the hybrid car coming, and cars don't hear a bike coming, which can often lead to a crash. So in order to prevent more accidents from happening, SoundofMotion.com has created a little computer device to attach to your bicycle that makes it sound like it has an engine. I can hear your friends cracking jokes already....

Other features of the computer are more practical. Through its Bluetooth capabilities, cyclists can turn use their cell phones to answer calls or listen to music through a wireless headset. It also has a large color display, and shows speed, acceleration, distance and time in large digits. Detailed travel data can be stored on a phone and uploaded to the computer.

It sounds neat, but what happens when it rains? And if you do pick one up, don't say we didn't warn about the teasing.
