While consumers would barely be interested in the manufacturing cost of devices, the recently launched Apple iPad was said to cost $270.50 to make. This was shared by a bills of materials analyst, Brian Marshall, of Broadpoint AmTech. If this is true then you can see how much profit Apple is getting from this device, about $228.50.
The bulk of the cost was traced to its 9.7” LCD display. Of the $270.50 cost, $100 goes to the display while the others were attributed to the A4 chip and warranties. So assuming that the iPad does follow the footsteps of the famed iPhone, you can imagine how much Apple is making huh?
