Neurok Optics iz3D Monitor
Neurok Optics has been showing off their prototype iz3D monitor which when used with polarized glasses can provide lifelike three dimensional graphics from ordinay 2D displays. Neurok was showing off the iz3D at the Blizzcon convention with the game World of Warcraft.
The 3D concept is a combination of polarized glass found in the monitor and polarized glasses that the user would wear. Almost any monitor in the market can be adapted to use this technology. The heavy math to make the 3D possible is performed by a small box that contains two DVI inputs and two outputs. The iz3D currently requires an NVIDIA card with dual DVI connectors. Neurok Optics is using NVIDIA cards for this only because they had the stereoscopic drivers necessary for all of this to work.
The iz3D can be used for most games out there but Neurok Optics isn't stopping there. They hope to offer the technology to hospitals where this technology can easily provide a three dimensional look to the human body.
